Employers are one of the most important people in the training programme. The Hair Academy South West will help to take the stress and strain out of training your staff and help you turn them into high flyers.

Training our managers and senior stylists of tomorrow can be very time consuming and expensive, but there is another option that is both cost effective and structured and allows you to develop a young person.

The young person, known as an apprentice, will be employed by your company and develop towards a position of responsibility. At the same time they will be working towards their NVQ Level 2 and/or Level 3 qualifications, in addition to learning personal skills.

We are currently looking for employers who would be interested in offering work based apprenticeships to young people, but we can also help you find the right trainee for your salon.

Here are some points for you to consider:

• The employer pays the trainee at 16 years a minimum of £80 per week.
• Trainees will have to work a minimum of 16 hours in your salon in addition to their day release.
• 20 days Holiday per year including public holidays.
• If a trainee is unsuitable, they can be offered one weeks notice and we will check our database and help you find another trainee.

One of our training co-ordinators will visit you and your trainee on a regular basis and will be happy to answer any queries you may have. These visits will always be by appointment and are vital link between the salon and the academy. You will also be updated on your trainees progress throughout the programe.

The academy will supply live models for trainees to work on and be evaluated by our assessors in the academy. This will take the pressure of supplying models away from the employer, although our assessors will be only too pleased to visit your salon for an assessment by appointment if neccessary.
